Political Satire Bicycle Poster

Journey back in time at the turn of two centuries ago when the bicycle was a novel mode of transportation. During the late 1890's and early 1900's the bicycle was frequently used in political satire and social commentary. We bring you a small slice of images from this period.

Puck was America’s first political satire magazine and was originally published in English and German. During it’s history the magazine’s political leanings brought it to supporting most of the causes of the Democratic Party. Judge magazine's political leanings were toward Republican Party issues and it’s editor in the early 1920’s would go on to found The New Yorker Magazine.
