*Two Wheel Trip, The American Magazine Of Bicycling. There were only two issues published, the premier issue and Vol 1 No 1, before production was ceased. This is the poster done for the premier issue. Reading through the magazines is a surreal look both back in time and forward to today—much has changed, but equally as much has apparently remained the same. While fashions are different, everything in those pages would go for big money in today’s boutiques. Between ads for locks and parts are full page insertions for air travel and wheat germ, all with the old school ’70s class you’d expect. Articles about frustrating thieves and struggle for the right to the road eerily echo the same concerns expressed today. While the fight for lanes and other cycling infrastructure was in it’s infancy when Two Wheel Trip was published, the arguments and hurdles are quite the same 40 years on.
